What Makes Your Logo Stand Out
posted on November 15, 2019
Everyone knows what a logo is. A logo is often described as a design symbolizing an organization, a company, or a brand and used to aid and promote public identification and recognition. First and foremost, a logo serves as an identifier of your brand. Not only that, a logo might be the first thing people notice about your brand. So a good logo is a necessity for every business.
Now in a world where new brands are popping up every day, to retain clients you have to find a way to make them remember your brand. To do that, your brand must have a good logo that is simple, memorable, timeless, versatile, appropriate all while still conveying your message.
Simple
When designing a good logo, keep these two phrases in mind:
- Less is more
- K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid
A good logo has to be simple and easy to understand, a complicated logo will be easily forgotten. Just remember, that one of the world’s largest companies’ logo is a Swoosh.
Memorable
A logo can be simple yet still memorable and have a lingering effect. Even just by hearing the names, your mind automatically remembers the logos. McDonald’s, giant golden arches. Coca Cola, red swirly typography. A good logo is memorable, if it’s not memorable then it’s not an effective logo.
Timeless
A good logo stands through the test of times. A fine-tuning might be needed every now and then, but nothing major. Brands we have mentioned above also went through some changes in the past, but again, nothing major. The Swoosh, golden arches, and red swirly typography remain.
Versatile
In the 21st century, brands are highly visible everywhere. Advertisement companies use whatever and wherever to promote your brands.
A good logo is very versatile so you can adapt it to be shown on varied platforms.
Appropriate
A good logo should be appropriate for its intended audience. For example, one of our clients is a senior health center, so we choose a warm color palette to depict the attentive and friendly image.
A logo doesn’t need to say what a company does. The BMW logo isn’t a car and the Sennheiser logo is not an audio device. A logo is an identifier of your brand.
